Daytona RCSX 2018

It was a wild weekend of events at the World Center of racing at Daytona International speedway. Over 1200 entries graced this racetrack, compiling hundreds of laps on this Ricky Carmichael designed course. The track changed only a slight bit from Pro night into the amateur event morning. The MX sports team kept the same layout as the Pro SX but did tone down the jumps to cater to the amateur MX crowd.

Sunday's qualifying went extremely well. Weather was excellent and the racers took to the course to gain their starting positions for the main events happening the following day.  There were several division races within the schedule, which meant we would have close to 15 LCQ's within Monday morning’s program, before the main events would start. Rain also decided to show its ugly face for the first half of Monday's finals making for challenging track conditions.

The Fox Am MX team performed extremely well during these trying conditions. The first winner of his main event was Garrett Marchbanks. Garrett went out in the 250 A event and killed the field. Garrett rode well during the trying conditions of the Daytona course, but pulled off the victory in the end. Our newest member of the Fox Brigade, Casey Cochran was the next champion to rise to the occasion during the challenging event. Casey went out and dominated the 85cc 9-11 class with silky smooth style. The rider from Florida knew all about the tricky conditions of the Daytona course and used it to his advantage to benefit his race, and coming in 1st place during his event.  John Grewe took the win in the 50 plus class. He rode hard all day long in all 3 classes. Excitingly enough, John was able to win his final main event in the 50 plus class, bringing home the gold for that event. John was challenged all weekend with the tough conditions of the Daytona course. These muddy and slick conditions tested all the racers out there.

Other Fox team standouts for the event were; Jesse Flock hammering his Pro Circuit Kawasaki to a 2nd place main event finish in the 250B class. Thor Powell jumped on a Factory Cobra 65cc for the first time in his career and placed 3rd over-all in the 65cc 10-11 class. Gage Linville put up a huge fight in the 125 12+ class to claim 3rd over-all.

What an epic couple of days of racing at Daytona for these youth riders over all. Just to experience the venue and the sights of Bike week in Daytona are priceless. Congratulations to all the racers that attended the event.
