Ken Roczen’s dream summer reached its pinnacle this weekend at Round 11 of the AMA Pro Motocross series at Budds Creek in Mechanicsville, Maryland. The #94 earned his second premier class title with yet another commanding 1-1 finish over the rest of the field. It has been a series to remember for Roczen as he has now earned a total of 8 Overall victories and has his eyes set on a 9th with the series moving into the final round at Ironman MX in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Rookie Pro Circuit star Austin Forkner also had a big day at Budds Creek as he solidified his 3rd consecutive podium finish with 5-2 moto finishes.

Roczen’s big day began with the top qualifying time in the 450 Class and the German was looking primed and ready to stand on the top step of the podium. He nailed a textbook holeshot in the opening 450 Moto and controlled the race from the front for the entire 17 laps. He made it look easy as he took the checkers with a 16 second gap over second place Marvin Musquin. He just barely missed double holeshots in the second moto but was able to quickly move into the lead early on the opening lap. He showed his dominance again throughout the moto as he put another giant gap on the field and took the win to seal his fate as the 2016 450 Pro Motocross champion. The champagne showers immediately followed the victory and Roczen celebrated alongside the GOAT Ricky Carmichael and the entire RCH Team.

Austin Forkner continued his strong push to the end of the 2016 Pro Motocross series and was flying again at Budds Creek. He took a 5th place finish in the opening 250 Moto and looked to better his score in the second Moto to earn another podium finish. The second moto began with a 3rd place start for Forkner, and he moved into the lead by Lap 5. The Rookie led for 4-5 laps before moving back to 2nd where he eventually finished. His 5-2 scores were good for 3rd Overall and another trip to the podium celebrations. He’ll look to put a cap on his great freshmen campaign at the final round of the series next weekend.

It was a series high for Adam Cianciarulo at Budds Creek and he showed some amazing speed throughout the day. He pulled the holeshot in the opening 250 Moto and led a great portion of the race before finishing up a season best 2nd Place. He backed it up in 250 Moto #2 with another great holeshot and a solid 5th Place finish. It was great to see AC back up front consistently and he’ll be looking for his first Overall podium finish of the season next week in Indiana.

Joey Savatgy had another roller coaster of a day at Budds Creek that began on a high note with a 3rd Place finish in 250 Moto #1. Unfortunately he ran into some troubles in the second moto and only was able to complete 12 Laps for a 34th place finish. He was still in the top 10 with a 9th Overall on 3-34 moto scores. Chris Alldredge returned to racing for the first time this summer and finished up a solid 10th Overall with 12-11 finishes. Arnaud Tonus was just behind Alldredge in the Overall standings, going 7-17 for 11th Overall.

We’ll finish off the 2016 AMA Pro Motocross Series next weekend at Ironman MX just outside of Indianapolis, Indiana and are looking forward to all of the Fox Athletes having a strong final round. See you there!
