ROCZEN & SEXTON VICTORIOUS IN ATLANTA

It was a big weekend as the AMA Supercross series headed to Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta for Round 9. After earning second last weekend in Arlington, Ken Roczen had his sights set on another win in Atlanta. GEICO Honda's Chase Sexton was coming off his first win of the season last week in Arlington and looked to keep the streak rolling and gain sole ownership of the 250 SX East points lead.

Before racing got underway, Chad Reed took the opportunity to say goodbye to the Atlanta fans by riding out in opening ceremonies with his three kids on bikes of their own. Atlanta has always been a special city for Reed, and the local fans greeted the entire Reed crew with a standing ovation as the kids followed Dad out onto the track.

In the 250 Class, Chase Sexton got off to a great start and battled at the front of the pack with championship rivals RJ Hampshire and Shane McElrath. By the halfway point, Sexton was able to gain control of the lead, eventually taking his second win of the season. With this win, Sexton gains sole control of the points lead, gapping second place Shane McElrath by 5 points.

Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Jordon Smith was a solid 4th on the night. GEICO Honda's Jo Shimoda finished 5th as a class rookie. Garrett Marchbanks ended up 7th after a collision with Shimoda pushed him back a few spots. Jeremy Martin had a tough Main Event after winning his heat race, going down while running 4th, and eventually was forced to DNF the race.

450 ARLINGTON SUPERCROSS HIGHLIGHTS

In the 450 Class, it was all Ken Roczen, starting off his night with a win in 450 Heat #1 before setting his sights on the Main Event. After that, the #94 rolled into the line with quiet confidence and started off the Main with a perfectly timed holeshot. That was all the rest of the field would see of Roczen as he quickly began to gap his competition in the early laps as chaos ensued behind him.

After 20 minutes + 2 laps, it was a wire-to-wire victory for Roczen - his third win of the year. He made up 7 points on Eli Tomac with the win and now sits tied for the championship lead heading into Daytona next weekend.
