ADAM CIANCIARULO TAKES SECOND AT REDBUD

On Saturday, the second half of the 2019 Lucas Oil Motocross Championship series kicked off at the RedBud circuit in Buchanan, Michigan. Adam Cianciarulo would have to overcome a controversial two-position penalty in Moto 1 but would come out fighting in Moto 2. He took second in Moto 2 and finished second overall on the day. Ken Roczen would finish sixth on the day bouncing back from a ninth-place finish the previous weekend. Still dealing with some health issues, sixth was a nice improvement for Ken. The series takes a break this weekend before round eight at Millville, Minnesota on July 20th.

RedBud 250 Moto Recap

Adam Cianciarulo Highlights

In the 250 Moto 1, Adam Cianciarulo grabbed the holeshot over Dylan Ferrandis. However, the lead would be short-lived. A few turns later Adam and Dylan would nearly collide, sending AC off the track. He would reenter the track safely but fall back to second. While Ferrandis was running a strong pace out front, Adam was battling to stay in the top three. A mid-race mistake would see Adam veer off the side of the track again. And, this time around officials deemed he gained and advantage as he reentered the track. The result was a two-spot penalty which dropped him to fifth.

Adam Cianciarulo got out to a top-five start in Moto 2 while Moto 1 winner, Dylan Ferrandis, was riding in second. Ferrandis would pass for the lead early and go on to win the moto unchallenged. Adam would work his way through the field to finish second. Moto finishes of 5-2 would earn Adam second on the day. He leaves RedBud with a 25 point series lead over Ferrandis.

Team Geigo Honda Highlights

Honda Geico riders R.J. Hampshire and Hunter Lawrence debuted the V3 Prey helmet this weekend. R.J. put in a great ride in Moto 1, finishing second. He would crash early in Moto 2 and work his way back to eighth to finish fourth on the day. Hunter put in consistent moto finishes of 8-4 to achieve 5th on the day. Chase Sexton and Christian Craig sat out RedBud and are looking to return to racing at Millville.

RedBud 450 Moto Recap

Ken Roczen Highlights

In the 450 Moto 1, Ken Roczen would battle in the top five for much of the race. Still recovering from the heat issues suffered at the WW Ranch round in Florida, Ken slowed up towards the end of the moto. He would recover and cross the line in sixth.

Ken looked reenergized in the 450 Moto 2. He got out to the lead early and would work to hold off Marvin Musquin and Eli Tomac. He would eventually relinquish the lead and finish third. Moto finishes of 6-3 would see Ken finish the day sixth overall. A break in the series this weekend should give Ken a chance to make some progress on his health before heading to Millville on July 20th.
