WW Ranch National Recap

This past weekend, the Lucas Oil Pro National series made its way to the WW Ranch in Jacksonville, Florida for the fifth round of the 2019 season. This would mark the first time the teams have visited WW for a national.

Hot and humid weather would greet the riders as they rolled into the Ranch. This would be the hottest race to date and would push riders to their limits. Ken Roczen came into the weekend tied for the series points lead in the 450 class while Adam Cianciarulo was holding a 26 point lead in the 250 division, trying to make it five wins in a row.

Adam Cianciarulo

In the first 250 Moto, Adam got out to a slow start rounding the first turn just inside the top ten. He would put his head down and work towards the front. Adam was able to pass his way to fifth by the time the checkered flag flew.

In the second 250 Moto, Adam Cianciarulo would get out to a good start and work his way into third early in the moto. He put in a strong ride and held off a late charge from Hunter Lawrence to secure a podium finish in Moto 2 and third overall on the day. He would lose eight points to Justin Cooper on the day and leave WW with a sixteen point lead in the series.

Ken Roczen

In the first 450 Moto, Ken Roczen got out to a good start and put on a charge for the lead. He would do battle with the reigning Supercross Champion Cooper Webb for several laps, eventually making the pass for the lead. He would hold the lead until the latter stages of the race when he would come under pressure from Marvin Musquin. Musquin was on a charge and would make the pass on Ken to take the win. Roczen would settle for second and a great shot at the overall with a good ride in moto two.

The heat was a key factor during the day of racing at WW. Ken Roczen was contemplating not racing the second moto as the energy he used in moto one left him drained and not sure he could complete Moto two. He would make his way the line knowing how important gaining championship points would be. Ken ran in the top five early in Moto 2. He would eventually crash and fall back in the pack. As the moto came to an end, he worked his way up to tenth, finishing the day sixth overall. Eli Tomac would win the second moto and regain the series points lead. Ken heads into round six at Southwick six points down on Tomac.
