DAYTONA SX RACE RECAP

The good times keep on rolling for Austin Forkner and the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team. At Daytona, Austin brought his race win count to four and extends his teams winning streak to seven.

250 CLASS

Austin Forkner #24

The Daytona win is yet another milestone on Austin’s 2019 season. “It feels amazing to win at a place like Daytona,” said Forkner. However, the night wasn’t all smooth sailing for the Kawasaki pilot. After the first few turns, he found himself in second, chasing the leader (Peters), and battling with Cooper who was in pursuit. He would battle with Cooper for a couple of laps before overpowering Peters with an aggressive sprint down the pit row rhythm section. Ultimately he would finish in first ahead of second place by nearly 6 seconds.

Martin Davalos #73

In the main event, Martin settled into 7th place and pushed hard towards the front. He had worked his way into sixth when he when down in a rhythm section. He quickly rebounded and managed to finish in the top 10.

Chase Sexton #23

Chase flashed his speed yet again, but he would run out of racetrack. In the main, he worked his way into 4th early on and from there, methodically worked his way into 2nd. His lap times were on pace with the leader, but he never made up enough time to challenge for the win.

450 CLASS

Ken Roczen #94

In the main, Ken Roczen fell victim to the sand pit. Off the start, he was buried in the pack, and in turn one he would collide with Cole Seely and Chad Reed. He remounted his Honda and was able to make his way back to 8th by the checkered flag.

Chad Reed #22

Reed finished 4th in his heat race as he looked for his fourth Daytona Supercross win. In the main, he rounded turn one in the top ten and would maintain that position until the end.
