MUDDY CREEK RACE RECAP

MUDDY CREEK RACE RECAP

This past weekend the National Motocross series made its way to Tennessee. The riders would line up at the Muddy Creek track to do battle in what many thought would be a mudder. Heavy rains the week leading up to the event had teams and riders fearing the worst for Saturday racing. As it turned out, the rains let up giving track builders time to get the facility dialed for the big show.

450 CLASS

Ken Roczen got out to a good start in the first moto, working his way to first and leading several laps in the early stages of the race. He would eventually finish 3rd in Moto 1.

In Moto 2, Ken got out to another good start. Once again, he would take the lead and stay at the front for the early stages of the race, eventually finishing 4th. With moto finishes of 3-4, he ended up 4th overall for the day.

250 CLASS

Garrett Marchbanks suffered a knee injury at last weeks round. He would sit out Muddy Creek, hoping to make his return at Southwick. That left team riders Joey Savatgy and Austin Forkner to battle the rest of the 250 field in Tennessee.

Joey and Austin struggled at the start of Moto 1. They would complete the first lap at the tail end of the top 15. However, by the end, both riders would work their way into the top 10. Austin would finish 5th with Joey right behind him in 6th.

Moto 2 was much of the same for the Monster Kawasaki Pro Circuit riders. They would have to work their way through the pack for the entire moto. Joey would eventually finish 6th with Austin coming home in 8th. This would match their overall finishes on the day.

Next up for the series is the famed Southwick sand track.
